Radiologists Earn Big Salaries

Radiologists are among the healthcare practitioners in the United States with high salary payout. Although this is an extreme case, the fact is that radiologist salaries are generally on the high side.

Radiologist salary is not fixed across all states. It is determined by factors such as years of work experience, location (state of practice), and certification. The higher the number of years of experience and certification or specialty, the higher the salary can be.

In general, a radiologist can expect to make an annual salary of about $240,000 – $260,000.

Their salaries are on the high side possibly because of the number of years they put into training and obtaining certification. They are highly a specialized area of medicine.

Radiologists are actually physicians who put in four years in the medical school after which they put in another four years to specialize in the field of radiology. After these four years, they go for residency for five years, making a total of thirteen years in training.

Those who want to specialize further and obtain higher certification in areas such as intervention radiology or neuroradiology, and Mammography put in additional years for training. This group of radiologists earns the highest salary. They can earn as high as $300,000 to $600,000 per year.

Considering how much time and efforts radiologists put into training and achieving certification, it is no wonder that they earn big salaries.
